Dubai: The Commercial Crossroads of Africa and Asia

Our sales teams cover the European and African markets and are working to grow our client network every day. With this objective in mind, we organized a prospection visit to Dubai, the business capital of the United Arab Emirates and the commercial crossroads of Africa and Asia. With a population of over 3 million representing over 200 nationalities, Dubai is a cultural melting pot with an eclectic atmosphere. Asian countries like India, Pakistan and Bangladesh are the most represented with only 11% of the population being local.

Dubai is truly the gateway to the Middle East, Asia and Africa. In fact, 70% of products imported into Dubai are exported right after; this means fantastic opportunities for trade! What’s more, the Middle East, especially the people of Dubai, are big consumers of European and French products. Unsurprisingly, the three biggest French exports to the UAE are perfumes, cosmetics and leather fashion.  This visit allowed us to better understand how this unique market works as well as meet prospective clients. We discovered a range of business zones such as Dragon Mart and Deira Zone and explored the tax free zones reserved for professionals. These zones are close to shipping ports like Jebel Ali, the biggest manmade port in the world as well as the ninth most active. It is most certainly the busiest port in the Middle East. There are great opportunities to be had in this new market. We look forward to making the most of them!
